World Peace Day: music from countries in conflicts

For our third participation in World Peace Day, we raised money for The Worldwide Tribe, a fantastic organisation that brings support to refugees across Europe.

Our programme included a very wide range of music from countries in the world where there have been terrible conflicts which have led to a mass exodus of people seeking refuge and safety: Afghanistan, Central African Republic, Colombia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Iraq, Iran, Myanmar, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Ukraine, Venezuela, Yemen.

By performing music from these countries we wanted to send a message of solidarity and welcome to people affected and send our hopes for the conflicts to be healed within the countries..

We also had the pleasure of welcoming wonderful guests:

Iranian composer and pianist Shohreh Shakoory

Singers Osama Kiwan (from Syria) and Carollyn Eden
