World Peace Day: Unfinished Journeys

On World Peace Day (21 September 2016), the World Harmony Orchestra performed Schubert’s “Unfinished Symphony” at two different locations in tribute to refugees worldwide whose journeys are still unfinished. First, at Amnesty International UK where we dedicated the first movement of the symphony to the thousands of refugees who courageously searched for a new home but lost their lives trying to complete the journey.

After the concert some musicians from the orchestra went to Folkestone beach to perform for young refugees from Kent Refugee Action Network who have reached the UK safely and facing the sea towards nearly a thousand unaccompanied children in Calais who live in constant danger and who desperately need to be allowed into the UK. We believe that we should provide a new shore where refugees are no longer on their own and have the chance to be supported.
