Soldiers of Peace, Armistice concert

For this unique Armistice concert we paid tribute to the "Soldiers of Peace" at St Paul's Church (Covent Garden) on 10th November 2016. We performed works by composers who had to flee war: 'Searching for Peace' by Arian (Syrian refugee and contemporary composer)

'Prelude' for piano solo by Chopin (who was a Polish refugee)

Also works by pacifist composers:

'Sentimental Saraband' by Britten (who was a conscientious objector)

'Fratres' by Arvo Part

'Le Deserteur' song by Boris Vian

'Shake the world soldier of peace' by Romain Malan (lyrics by Gandhi)

And 'Lacrimosa' by Mozart The music was intertwined with poetry and quotes by Wilfred Owen, Malala Yousafzai, Remarque, Binyon, Sita Brahmachari (writer at Islington Centre for Refugees and Migrants).
