Our new Outreach project called 'Cuppa Concerts' provides 30-minute concerts followed by a 'cuppa' at your home. You can choose the style, repertoire, instruments/singers you would like, or be surprised by discovering new music.
We especially want to reach out to isolated and lonely people who would benefit from visits at home such as the elderly and people with physical or mental health issues. We have received a grant from 'Signomatic' enabling us to provide a limited number of concerts for free to those who otherwise would not be able to afford them. Otherwise, the cost of a concert is £40 (for one musician) which includes £5 towards funding other free concerts at home. Donations of top of that will enable us to provide more free concerts.
At some point in 2020, we will have a 'sharing concert' which, as well as a performance by the orchestra would involve people we have visited, taking part creatively (musical performance, poetry reading etc.) if they wish, or being in the audience. This would be an opportunity for people to meet others through a shared moment of music and refreshments.
We provide individual music lessons in people's homes and at Elizabeth House community centre (Islington):
Violin, Cello, Piano, Flute, Clarinet, Guitar, Ukulele, Singing, Songwriting and more...
£20 per 30 minute lesson
£35 per 1h lesson
We feel a strong desire and need to give music lessons to people who would benefit therapeutically from them or who would not be able to afford them, such as refugees, people with mental health issues, elderly or homeless people. We offer these lessons on a 'pay what you can' basis.
If you would like to join this scheme, please contact us!
On the other hand, we encourage people who can afford the rate above to make a one-off or regular donation, which would be an invaluable help towards funding and sustaining our Outreach scheme.
Thanks to your generous donations (one-off or regular), we hope to raise £5000 in the year in order to provide 100 hours of Outreach less:
£3500 towards the teachers
£1000 towards the hire of the room
£500 towards marketing and the hire of the hall for a concert involving all the students
A £5 donation enables a student who would not afford travel expenses to come to a lesson
A £10 donation enables the hire of the teaching room for one hour
A £20 donation enables the hire of a teacher for a 30 minute lesson or the purchase of an instrument such as a guitar or a ukulele
A £35 donation enables the hire of a teacher for 1 hour of teaching
A £120 donation enables the hire of the room for a whole term
A £240 donation enables one student to receive weekly lessons for a whole term
